The Ireland → Dubai move checklist
Everything to sort, in the order that works, for Dubai or wherever in the UAE you land.
Before you leave Ireland
- Plan your Irish tax exit, the day counts (183 and the 280-day look-back) and the three-year ordinary-residence tail, with Irish-qualified advice for anything past the basics.
- Decide your route, a job, your own company, or the Golden Visa.
- Choose the emirate that fits, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, RAK or another.
- Check whether split-year relief applies to your employment income in the year you go.
- Decide on your Irish home, sell or let, and get the tax angle of each confirmed.
- Sort shipping, what to take, sell or store.
Setting up in the UAE
- Set up your company (freezone, mainland or offshore) if you need one.
- Get your residence visa and Emirates ID.
- Open your UAE bank account.
Settling your family
- Choose an area and secure a school place (apply early).
- Sort housing, the Ejari tenancy process.
- Arrange health insurance and sort your driving licence.
